Mark Phillips is a Vice President at Innovative Health Strategies and Counsel at Faegre Drinker. He previously served as in-house counsel at Compass Group for 15 years where he negotiated hundreds of purchased services contracts, including food and nutrition services, environmental services/housekeeping, laundry, plant operations and maintenance, vending services and valet services. Mark also has an MBA in finance, so he is uniquely positioned to understand the financial, operational and legal issues that are relevant to purchased services contracts, based on his industry experience and background in finance. Since joining IHS and DBR, Mark has negotiated foodservice agreements, environmental service agreements, laundry agreements, and sterile processing outsourcing agreements on behalf of hospitals and group purchasing organizations; negotiated group purchasing agreements on behalf of hospitals; and negotiated a wide variety of other vendor agreements on behalf of group purchasing organizations. Mark is routinely able to find ways to help clients save money and improve quality by scrutinizing contractor financial proposals and structuring contracts so that contractors do not have incentives to improve contractor profits at the expense of quality.
